I have been quite impressed with Netflix’s LGBT selection for a while now. Whenever I receive a new TLA Catalog, I immediately search Netflix to see which films they carry and add them to my queue. I would estimate that they have 8 out of 10 films already and I can “want list” the ones that are not yet available.

Perhaps Netflix doesn’t carry every LGBT film out there, and some of what they do carry is amateurish student-film tripe that is poorly written, acted and directed. In that regard, the LGBT film output is no different than that of Hollywood generally. But I’m impressed with what they do carry.

The best way to show Netflix that you support LGBT cinema is by streaming or ordering these films. I’m sure they track trends and know precisely which categories of films are rising and falling. And if an LGBT film is a piece of junk, don’t hesitate to give it a low rating. Quality is more important than quantity.
