Speed Racer (In Theaters May 9th)

Speed Racer

Another giant feature film release that is not actually gay, and yet… SPEED RACER is directed by hot Hollywood sibling team, the Wachowski’s (in an ongoing and mostly sensational series of news coverage everyone from Fox News to AfterElton.com has been trying to get the story of whether Larry Wachowski has indeed transitioned to become Lana – stay tuned). In any case, everyone wants to see Emile Hirsch as Speed himself. Emile has already played gay in the indie hit, THE MUDGE BOY, and he’ll earn his full gay icon badge later this year when he plays gay activist and Names Project founder Cleve Jones in Gus Van Sant’s Harvey Milk bio-pic, MILK).

Kiss The Bride

Matt (Philipp Karner) is shocked when he receives an invitation to his high school best friend’s wedding—especially since Ryan (James O’Shea) is marrying a woman! So he plans to rescue his former love from the “she-devil” that has trapped him into this huge mistake. On the other hand, Ryan’s perky fiancé Alex (Tori Spelling) takes quite the liking to Matt. Is she very cunning, disarmingly ditzy, completely adorable—or all three? As Matt tries to rekindle the old flame, Ryan seems intent on putting out any sparks. A sexy, fun romantic comedy, proving the boundaries of love, sexuality and identity are never constant. Co-starring Academy-Award nominated actress, Tess Harper (Crimes of the Heart), Joanna Cassidy (Six Feet Under), and Robert Foxworth. Directed by C. Jay Cox (Latter Days). Water Lilies (Opens in NYC, April 4th)

Water Lilies

The award-winning French teen lesbo ensemble pic, WATER LILIES opens April 4th in New York. Manohla Dargis describes the action nicely in her mostly positive New York Times review: “There’s Anne (Louise Blachère), the sloppy, fat loner (more gently rounded than truly big), who pals around with Marie (Pauline Acquart), a reedy child-woman who, in turn, only has big hungry eyes for Floriane (Adèle Haenel), a ripe beauty whose suggestive smile portends trouble. The scope of that trouble slowly emerges as the girls circle one another at the local pool — they’re all involved in synchronized swimming, hence the title — at parties and, most provocatively, in one another’s bedrooms.”
