John Cameron-Mitchell (HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH)
“I have a few favorite queer movies: HAPPY TOGETHER by Wong-Kar-Wai about fucked-up lovers in Buenos Aires; TAXI ZUM KLO by Frank Ripploh about a German kindergarten teacher who has a penchant for public toilet sex on his off hours (very influential on SHORTBUS); THE KING AND THE CLOWN, a very popular Korean historical epic about two male minstrels who are in love with each other until the murderous King falls in love with one of them. THE HOURS AND TIMES by Chris Munch about John Lennon’s possible gay moment with his manager. The triumvirate of brilliant docs by Rob Epstein and Jeff Friedman: THE TIMES OF HARVEY MILK, COMMON THREADS, PARAGRAPH 175.”
Get your copy of John’s classic film, HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH and also check out the ambitious documentary FOLLOW MY VOICE: WITH THE MUSIC OF HEDWIG.
