“I have many favorites, so I’ll do my best in dwindling it down to just a few.
LONGTIME COMPANION may not be the greatest movie ever made, but the end will always get me. I can cry just thinking about it. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen but let me just say, Imagine a world–a gay world–where AIDS never existed.

My new favorite has to be MILK. A movie about a real-life gay hero. While BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, which I love, portrayed two men who were tortured souls because of their sexuality, MILK celebrates our world. There are no apologies in MILK. And like LONGTIME COMPANION, I cried and cried and cried. Yeah, I know, I’m a crybaby.

And then there are the musicals. Gay storylines or not, it doesn’t matter. MOULIN ROUGE and CHICAGO are probably my top two. Oh, of course there’s THE WIZARD OF OZ, but isn’t that on everybody’s list?”

Dustin Lance Black

From Marc Malkin at E! Online:

Dustin Lance Black has a lot to look forward to this month. Not only is the Oscar-winning writer of Milk being honored tonight in L.A. by gay youth-mentoring group LifeWorks, but in a couple of weeks he will be one of three grand marshals of New York City’s Pride March. There’s so much more, but it’s too much to list here. Sadly, earlier this week, Black was confronted with the ugly side of being a public figure… A website posted three-year-old photos of Black engaged in what appears to be risky sex.”
