“My favorite LGBT film is MAURICE. I’m a sucker for MAURICE. All that repressed longing and guilt and boys in beautiful Edwardian suits and starched collars sitting around their rooms at Cambridge translating Plato. The scene where Maurice strokes Clive’s hair, and Clive leans his head back against Maurice’s perfectly creased white flannel knee, and they almost kiss but get interrupted? That’s my favorite sex scene ever, even though Hugh Grant is in it.”

Legendary cartoonist and writer Alison Bechdel is best known for her long-running comic strip, Dykes To Watch Out For and her highly acclaimed graphic novel/memoir, Fun Home. Look for a piece by Alison in the new anthology, Unpacking My Library (just out this month), and stay tuned for her next graphic memoir, Are You My Mother (coming in 2012). “My favorite LGBT movie is AIMEE AND JAGUAR. I loved AIMEE AND JAGUAR because their connection was authentic and every element of the film from photography to music fit perfectly. I also love WHEN NIGHT IS FALLING. That first kiss they had at the front door. I think I scratched my DVD I played it back so many times.”
